It’s Oscar time again.
And OK, so we may not be in Hollywood and it’s no biggie if you’re not a famous actor.
But what if you looked – objectively – at your own ‘performance’ – how would you grade yourself?
Are you giving everything you’ve got, or are you just cruisin’ through each day. trying to get away with AS LITTLE as possible?
Yeah, You decide that one.
But I can tell you this: looking at all the people I meet (singers,actors,footballers, senior execs)…there’s a helluva lot of cruisin’ going on out there. (That’s before I get my coaching teeth into them by the way).
Why is that?
….Because they CAN. Because no one is looking closely enough at how capable these people really are.
Because no one is ‘setting their pants on fire’ to get them moving. Because…it doesn’t matter ENOUGH.
Sadly, sometimes it matters when it’s too late…when some of these people have lost the opportunity to prove just how good they are, and when someone newer, younger, better, smarter…comes along and takes the opportunity away. Right from under their nose.
EVERY ONE of us has the opportunity to be a star on our very own ‘stage’. Your stage might be a sports pitch, or it might be a microphone you are standing behind, trying to get that break you are looking for. Either way – the thing that sets you apart from those actors in Hollywood hoping to get recognition (and a little gold statue!) – is your mindset.
The clock of your life is ticking away. Are you happy with how much you are giving of yourself?
Or is there more you can give?
Here’s a few tips I have given to many people who have gone on to get their career defining break – through:
– Perform at the level you want to be remembered at.
– Don’t be a ‘one week wonder’ – consistency is everything.
– Never give up. Never.Give.Up.
– Perform at the level you want to be remembered at.(important enough to repeat)
Will that level make you famous (in your field) – and if not, is that good enough – for you?
Anyone can become famous – and be the best- at what they do…So why don’t you?
Just DECIDE to raise your game and give the PERFORMANCE of YOUR LIFE.
Hollywood or Hull, it won’t matter when you’re famous. The world will come to you.
