You, and …your partner/colleague/buddy.
We are hooked on relationships of one type or another. Good and bad, male and female, bear and hare (thank you John Lewis).
Including other peoples’.
Why IS that?
Does it make us feel better focusing away from our own life, or are we looking for inspiration?
One things for sure, we need each other and if you want my advice – the harder you try to build good relationships the more fulfilling/rewarding/fun your life becomes.
But, honestly? it’s hard work – check out any TV programme (and advert!!) – and the ones listed above for some crunchy examples that have us well and truly glued to the screen, and you’ll get my drift. And whether you work hard at it or not, you will see results.
The question is will the relationship be good. Or bad.? Only YOU can answer that one.
But if you want to be a cracker at building relationships, look no further than Dale Carnegie – american author and personal development guru.
In his fab and famous book (written yonks ago) ‘How to win friends and influence people‘ he shows us effective ways to make that happen.
Here’s 5 examples:

1.Smile
2.Become genuinely interested in other people
3.Don’t criticise, condemn or complain
4.Be a good listener…..encourage others to talk about themselves
5.The only way to get the best of an argument is to avoid it
I have to agree they look simple enough. And they look pretty easy to me.
But are they easy to do ?
Ha, Hell No! They take some practising let me tell you and I see people every day who are facing obstacles in their life and they don’t do these things consistently.
That’s because they (we) are too wrapped up in what we want for ourselves. And the irony is that we can only get that, when we have support from others. Geddit?
So you can be the Guy Fawkes of your life and set off sparks and fire crackers , OR you can light the fire for others to excel.
And that’s when you really start to shine.
You choose. And before you do – read Dale Carnegie’s book. It might just change your life.
After that, come and talk to me. I’m a good listener…yeah, that’s number 4.
