“Regrets, I’ve had a few….”
Ahhh, the song says it well.
But – most of us have had at least 1 tiny one in life, so how can we live a life without regret?
I’ve just been live on air with BBC Radio talking about the UK’s top regrets.
Here’s 3 of them:
1. Not keeping in touch with old friends
2. Not taking the plunge in a romance
3. Not pursuing a better paid job
Regret number 3 comes up a lot when coaching, as does one of the most common regrets of the dying in the famous book written by #BronnieWare, which is this:
‘I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me’
Those of you who know me, know that I’m honest and get straight to the point (is that a #Yorkshire thing?) , so here are some tips to break the cycle of regret…
Ask yourself:
1. Am I prepared to let this (any) opportunity pass me by?
2. What’s really holding me back?
3. How can I overcome it and take action RIGHT NOW?
And, if I were coaching you, I’d be saying:
- Learn from the past, stop overthinking
- Change ‘One Day’ into ‘Day One’
- We THINK we have time, but we don’t
- Moving out of your comfort zone is a catalyst to living without regrets.
Live the life YOU want, you’re in charge
