Golf: The US Open – Why mindset matters

I can’t tell you how proud I feel today.

No one really knows how much goes into success – it mostly happens behind the scenes doesn’t it? (just like my coaching).

And when your success plays out on the global stage, it’s wonderful and frightening all at the same time. You have the crowds to support you and cheer you on, and you also have thousands of eyes on you.

That’s pressure.

For any win, sporting or not, you need talent. But at an elite level, or when you’re in any kind of spotlight, you need so much more.

You need stuff like:

A desire to win that overpowers all the ‘failures’ along the way… and you need to know how to cope in the Spotlight.

That’s why mindset coaching – often the difference between winning or losing – really matters.

It matters in sport, in matters in business and in matters in life.

When your mind plays tricks with your head, when self-doubt creeps in and when you just don’t think you’ll ever get there – there’s a way to turn it all around and get you firmly focused and on the right path.

It’s learning how to manage your mind, and using it to power you forward.

I didn’t get much sleep last night, thanks to you two….but Congratulations to #MattFitzpatrick – winner of the US Open Golf Championship 2022 and his wonderful partner in crime, #BillyFoster.

You did it.

The Spotlight Coach,
