Can you EVER Keep up with the Kardashians?

Love ’em or hate ’em, the Kardashians are everywhere.

From TV reality shows (let’s add Kylie’s new cooking show to the ever growing list), to the apps, product ranges, books, numerous press and magazine articles…etc. I’m not one to judge, because all people are interesting and I make it my business to dig deep beneath the surface and try to understand the ones I meet, a whole lot better.

And we all have the right to live our lives the way we want to so if you aren’t a fan of the famous family, I guess you would keep well away.

But my point is this: CAN you EVER keep up with the Kardashians?

For all that their life is played out well and truly in the spotlight, and I don’t doubt that they are by and large, being themselves (well, apart from a bit of ‘creativity’ for our entertainment)   – do we really know who they are?

Of course we don’t.

Because, as humans, we keep our true selves hidden below the surface of our ‘game face mask’.

Yes, you might show certain elements of who you are to your work mates. And a further layer below that to some friends and family.

But the real you?  You might never show .

Why is that?

Here’s my take on it with 5 reasons …just for starters:

1. You are afraid – what if people don’t like who you really are?

2. You lack confidence – being so open is way out of your comfort zone.

3. You don’t want to – who you are deep down is your business, and not for others to see.

4. You’ve been ‘burnt’ before – and got hurt in the process. Not going there again!

5. You DON’T KNOW who you really are. No one has ever asked, or looked deep enough – including you – to find out!

Each reason above is personal to you, and I know (because it’s my job) that’s gonna take some uncovering. We’re all guarded to some degree, it’s just that others are better at putting on a show, and have more external confidence (though not necessarily confidence on the inside).

Back to the Kardashians then.

My advice is, don’t get too hung up on how they’re choosing to live out their lives. It is theirs after all.

And don’t get too hung up and what they have vs. what you have (there’s plenty of heartache away from the camera, trust me).

The truth is, you can never keep up with them, because you don’t know who they really are.

And on that note, why don’t you focus you’re attention back onto yourself, and start right there?

Get below the surface, and start digging for the real you.

It’s not easy when you’re in the spotlight.
