You’ll be a success …..when you want it as bad as you want to breathe.
I love the message on this picture.
And tonight sees the start of BBC’s The Apprentice – with a new bunch of eager, success hungry (and ,yes ,fame hungry) people fighting to become Sir Alan Sugar’s next partner in business.
Some will play up to the cameras, and others will stay in the background (read: hide) until they feel comfortable enough to push themselves forward.
And don’t forget, there’s always a marvelous ‘editing’ job done so that we see what is (or who is) the most entertaining to watch, and therefore given more airtime.
Watching the programme on TV is easy – we ALL know what we would do, and we would be better than that lot on the programme.
But would we?
When you are under that spotlight, and you are ‘performing’ to an audience – there’s little room for error.
Now add to that: pressure, a bunch of competitors who want what you want – and some will work against you to get it, and the heat is well and truly ON.
It takes guts, a sh*t load of confidence ….and an epic desire to succeed.
Over the weeks we will see who can hack it, and what strategies they will use to get that job .
(Isn’t this a bit of reflection of everyday life ?!).
We will be horrified at those who are self – obsessed.
We will laugh at those who are more than a tiny bit eccentric.
We will shout at those who, whilst intelligent….are just plain stupid.
And we will be wanting the more likeable ones to do well.
Like I said. A bit like every day life.
‘Likeability’ is one of those ingredients that they don’t teach at any fancy school/college or University.
But it’s one of the most important (but not the only one!) for success.
So good luck to all the candidates. And let’s see who does want it as badly as they want to breathe.
And enough to hear those famous words:
‘You’re Hired’.
Game.On.
