It might be an unpopular opinion, but I can live with that…
This whole ‘New Year, new you’ malarkey fires me up. And not in a good way.
It’s still everywhere (and will be until at least the end of Jan) and I hear it from businesses who want to change, and do new stuff as much as from individuals who want to become someone better (in whatever way) than they were last year.
Look, I’m all for improvement, I really am – after all, I work with incredibly talented and ambitious people who want to stretch and sharpen up.
So what’s my problem then?
Well, it’s this:
Too many people/businesses are looking for wonderful new ways to improve – but they haven’t even made the most of what they ALREADY have.
Seriously.
How well are you leveraging everything that your business has to offer?
How much – how often – are you using your strengths as an individual?
And a bigger question for you to mull over, is:
Do you even know what it is about you that makes you unique?
(I accept that it can be hard to see it in yourself).
There’s something about you that no one else has, it’s priceless and it will take you a long way IF you are using it and sharpening it up every day.
It can make you unstoppable, and I can’t tell you what THAT does for your performance!
Anyway, I call it ‘Ingredient X’.
You have it as an individual, and businesses have it as, let’s say, a ‘signature’ stamp.
So, before you set out to make your improvements for the year ahead, do yourself a favour – find, and use, your Ingredient X first.
Not only do you have it, I’m willing to bet that you’re underusing it.
There, I’m saving you money and also helping you to make more of who you already are.
